Whether you need a simple party dessert, sweet snack, or quick baking idea to share with family and friends, these chewy cookie bars deliver big flavor with very little fuss.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut

1 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it well.

2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.

4. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.

5. Fold in 1 cup of the chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of the almonds.

6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

7. Sprinkle the top with the remaining chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and remaining almonds.

8. Gently press the topping into the dough.

9. Bake for 28 to 34 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is just set.

10. Cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

Do not overbake these bars or the center will lose that soft, chewy texture that makes them so good.
