Ingredients
1 can buttermilk biscuits (16 oz)
1 pound breakfast sausage
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 large eggs
1/4 cup milk (for eggs)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Do not drain.
3. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
4. Gradually whisk in milk and stir until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
5. Return cooked sausage to the gravy and stir to combine.
6. Cut biscuits into quarters and spread half in the baking dish.
7. Pour half the sausage gravy over the biscuits. Repeat with remaining biscuits and gravy.
8. In a bowl, whisk together eggs and 1/4 cup milk. Pour evenly over the casserole.
9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
10. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
11. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
