Ingredients

1 cup water

3 cups fresh cranberries

1 cup blood orange juice

1 tablespoon blood orange zest

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cinnamon stick


Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, blood orange juice, blood orange zest, sugar, water, and the cinnamon stick. Stir to mix evenly.

2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Let it cook for 10–15 minutes until cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.

3. Remove the cinnamon stick and let the sauce cool completely. It will thicken more as it cools.

4. Transfer to a bowl or jar and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Use fresh cranberries for best results, but frozen cranberries work well too without thawing.

The sauce thickens more as it cools, so don’t worry if it seems slightly thin while warm.
