Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)

1/4 cup water

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

6 large flour tortillas

1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Optional: onions, jalapeños, cilantro, sour cream, salsa


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add taco seasoning and water to the beef. Stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Set aside.
  3. Lay tortillas flat and sprinkle cheese on one half of each tortilla.
  4. Spoon seasoned beef over the cheese and add any optional toppings.
  5. Add a second layer of cheese and fold the tortillas in half.
  6. Heat oil or butter in a skillet. Cook quesadillas for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove from skillet and let cool for 1 minute. Slice into wedges.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dips.
