Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, diced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup ketchup

3 cups mashed potatoes

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.

2. In a skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium-high heat until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.

3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and ketchup to the beef. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, then remove from heat.

4. Spread mashed potatoes evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

5. Add the beef mixture evenly on top of the mashed potatoes.

6. Sprinkle both cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the beef.

7. Top with crumbled bacon.

8. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbling.

9. Let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley if using and serve.

Notes

For a shortcut, use pre-made mashed potatoes or instant mash.

You can swap the bacon for turkey bacon or omit it entirely for a lighter version.
