Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar (packed)

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

0.5 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips or chunks

0.5 cup crushed peppermint candies

0.5 cup mini marshmallows

0.25 cup holiday sprinkles

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

Food coloring (assorted)

Instructions

1. Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.

2. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients.

4. Divide dough for variety—fold in chocolate chips, peppermint, or sprinkles accordingly.

5. Chill sugar cookie dough for 30 minutes.

6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll out dough and cut into desired shapes.

7. Bake cookies 8–12 minutes based on type, or until edges are lightly golden.

8. Let cookies cool completely before decorating.

9. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing. Add food coloring as desired.

10. Decorate cooled cookies with icing, sprinkles, marshmallows, and peppermint. Let set before serving or storing.

Notes

Chill your sugar cookie dough to help maintain shape while baking.

Let cookies cool completely before icing to prevent melting.
