Ingredients

200g flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

4 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

3 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 red chilli, sliced

1 green chilli, sliced

2 spring onions, chopped

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

2 cups cooked white rice

Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. Slice the beef against the grain and marinate it with soy sauce for 10-15 minutes.

2. Coat the marinated beef with cornstarch evenly.

3. Heat oil in a pan and fry beef strips in batches until crispy and golden brown.

4. In a clean pan, sautée garlic and ginger in a bit of oil.

5. Add soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Let it simmer until slightly thickened.

6. Return the fried beef to the pan and toss well in the sauce.

7. Stir in sliced chillies and spring onions. Cook briefly until warmed through.

8. Serve over white rice and garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro.

Notes

Make sure the oil is hot before frying to get the crispiest beef texture.

You can substitute brown sugar with honey for a different layer of sweetness.
