Ingredients

0.5 teaspoon salt

0.5 teaspoon black pepper

0.5 teaspoon garlic powder

0.75 cup all-purpose flour

1.5 pounds cube steak

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 large yellow onions, sliced

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

1. Season the cube steaks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

2. Dredge the steaks in flour, shaking off excess.

3. Heat butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

4. Brown the steaks for 3 minutes per side, then remove and set aside.

5. Add sliced onions to the same skillet and cook for about 10 minutes until soft and caramelized.

6. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of the remaining flour and stir to coat the onions.

7. Slowly pour in beef broth while whisking constantly.

8. Add Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer.

9. Return the steaks to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes on low until tender.

10. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

Use sweet onions if you prefer a milder flavor in the gravy.

Make sure to simmer on low heat to keep the steak tender and prevent overcooking.
