Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

4 large eggs

1 1/2 cups eggnog

1/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped (optional for extra fluffiness)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a saucepan, combine water and butter; bring to a boil.

2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Let cool for 5 minutes.

3. Beat in eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next.

4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star or round tip.

5. Pipe rose-shaped swirls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Cool completely.

7. For filling, whisk eggnog, sugar, cornstarch, and nutmeg in a saucepan over medium heat.

8. Cook until thickened, remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let it cool.

9. (Optional) Fold in whipped cream for extra smoothness.

10. Slice cream puffs or poke a hole in the base and pipe in the chilled filling.

11. Dust tops with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, fill the puffs right before serving to keep the pastry crisp.

You can make the pastry shells a day ahead and store them in an airtight container.
