Ingredients

8 mozzarella string cheese sticks

1 lb ground beef (80/20)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

2 tbsp Nashville hot seasoning mix (paprika, cayenne, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt)

1 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

Vegetable oil for frying

Dipping sauces: ranch, spicy mayo, honey mustard, cheese dip

Chopped parsley or chives (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Freeze mozzarella sticks for 30–45 minutes to keep them firm during cooking.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, seasoning mix, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix well.
  3. Flatten a handful of the beef mixture in your palm, place a frozen cheese stick in the center, and wrap the beef around it completely. Repeat.
  4. Chill the wrapped sticks again for 15–20 minutes for best frying results.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry a few sticks at a time for 3–5 minutes, turning until golden and crisp. Drain on paper towels.
