Ingredients

1 pound beef strips (flank, sirloin, or ribeye)

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon cornstarch

2 teaspoons water (for slurry)

1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Reserve a few tablespoons for glaze.

2. Place beef strips in a resealable bag or shallow bowl and pour marinade over. Marinate for 30 minutes to 4 hours.

3. Heat a skillet over high heat. Remove beef from marinade and sear in batches until browned, 2–3 minutes per side.

4. Add reserved marinade and cornstarch slurry to skillet. Stir and cook until thickened.

5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve hot.

Notes

Always slice beef against the grain to keep it tender.

For extra caramelization, pat beef dry before searing.
