1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

1 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and black pepper to taste

  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Return sausage to the skillet, mix into the sauce, and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  6. Add cooked pasta and toss to coat evenly.
  7. Serve hot with Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
