12 oz bow tie pasta (farfalle)

1 small onion, finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add bow tie pasta and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
