Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk or whole milk
2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
3 to 4 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a Bundt pan.
2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry mix. Do not overmix.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack.
9. Once cooled completely, mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze and pour over the cake.
Notes
For extra depth, swap vanilla extract with vanilla bean paste.
Don’t skip letting the cake cool before glazing, or the glaze will slide right off.
