Ingredients

6 cups sliced Granny Smith apples

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and cinnamon.

3. Spread the apple mixture into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.

4. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar, salt, nutmeg, and cubed butter.

5. Mix with fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

6. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.

7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apple filling is bubbling.
